The Gutman Library Commons at Harvard

For most of its life, the first floor of Harvard Graduate School of Education's Gutman Library was a quiet space filled with library stacks and very little collaboration space. In April 2012, Gutman Library's first floor was  transformed into a dining and gathering space called the Gutman Commons. The commons, designed by Baker Design Group, provides a modern cafe and bright, cheerful gathering spaces for students and faculty. The 36,000 GSF space is certified LEED Platinum and is now a favorite space for students and faculty to eat, study, relax, and collaborate.
